Professional portraits are an important investment as they allow you to forever pause and preserve sweet moments with your loved ones. I take the responsibility of capturing these images seriously because I want you to love your photos! For this reason, my sessions are designed to be as stress-free as possible so that you can sit back, relax, and simply enjoy making memories with your family.
Below are some tidbits about what your family session may entail:
You may feel a bit awkward at the beginning of your session - this is 100% normal! Posing can feel unnatural which is why my sessions are designed to incorporate fun games and prompts. These will allow you to loosen up and get the early photo session jitters out of the way.
While we will take some traditionally posed portraits, your session will also include fun games and prompts. In order to achieve a laid-back, candid photo feel, I provide posing guidance that is accompanied with some type of movement, such as swaying, skipping, snuggling, etc. Not only does this allow kids to be kids, but it will result in photos that you will be proud to show off.
Games require movement so come prepared to let loose and have fun! This movement will allow your little ones to enjoy the session, express their unique personalities, and burn some energy.
The most common question I get from my clients is, “what do I wear!?” As we will be moving during your session, I suggest wearing something that:
1. Is comfortable to move in.
2. Is lengthy enough to prevent any accidental body part reveals.
3. That is as weather-appropriate as possible.
My biggest tip is to wear something that feels authentically you! But I also understand that choosing something you will be happy to look back upon can pack on some pressure. For that reason I have complied a longer list of tips for selecting wardrobe for your session. You can find it here.
I am also always available to provide curated guidance. If you have any questions about outfits you’re considering for your session, please reach out and I will gladly provide feedback.
My biggest tip is to come to your session with a care-free attitude. Sometimes kids do not want to cooperate, and that’s 100% okay! It’s normal for little ones, especially toddlers, to feel out of their comfort zone. If this occurs, I will give your child some extra space so they can simply be themselves. We will still snap photos of your little one, though I will do so discreetly so that your child’s personality can shine as brightly as possible without any added pressure to perform.
As a mother myself, I know how quickly a small treat can turn a child’s frown upside-down. For this reason I always bring little snacks to my sessions, just in case it helps get little ones onboard. Usually fruit snacks and/or Goldfish are my go-tos, but I will always consult with you to ensure that providing a treat it okay, that there are no allergies to consider, and that your little one may not have any special treat preferences.
Grateful to Cecelia for the gorgeous senior photos of my girl Lilly! Cece became an immediate friend who made Lilly so comfortable with her warmth and humor. All of her photos celebrate Lilly’s beauty and personality! So much fun! Thank you Cece!
God has blessed my husband and I with two beautiful children - Gwen and Archer. Watching them grow is incredible but like most Momma's out there, I never want to forget all of the sweet moments along the way. This feeling is what inspired me to launch Cecelia Paige Photography, and it's why I'm here to help you preserve this beautiful season of your life. I can't wait to work with you!
